Our Story

At Unchained Confections, every caramel we hand-cut and hand-wrap tells a story of freedom, redemption, and new beginnings. Our journey didn’t start in a kitchen—it began behind prison walls, where chains are real and hope is hard to hold onto. There, our founder learned to make "taffy" using instant coffee creamer and Kool-Aid packets. What started as a hustle quickly became a craft, known throughout the prison compound for its quality, care and value. While Jesus transformed him in prison, the journey continued upon his release. Through Celebrate Recovery and an outreach group called Misfits for Jesus, he strengthened his faith, found healing, and discovered a heart for the broken and the outcast. Seven years later, Unchained Confections was born—a sweet reminder that no one is too far gone, and that second chances are not only possible, but worth celebrating. We’re more than a candy company. We’re a mission-driven business committed to providing meaningful work, purpose, and community to those in recovery and returning from incarceration. We believe in restoring dignity, rebuilding lives, and wrapping each piece of candy with hope. Every batch of our buttery caramels is made with real ingredients and real intention.
